🏃‍♂️ 6 Easy Steps to Record Your Treadmill Run

When you click on any running workout in your plan, you’ll see a green treadmill button at the bottom of the screen. This is the same screen you see before starting your workout (it’s next to the start button on the GPS map screen).

Note: For interval and tempo workouts, warm-ups and cool-downs don’t have treadmill features — only the interval and tempo segments do.

Step 1:
Click the green treadmill button at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2:
You’ll be taken to the workout data screen — the same one you see when recording a GPS run outside. Here, you can view your target distance and target pace for each workout segment.

Step 3:
Keep your phone open on this screen while running on the treadmill. For example, if it’s an easy run, run the target distance at the target pace.

Step 4:
After completing your run, tempo, or the first segment of an interval workout, PAUSE (don’t stop!) the treadmill workout once you hit your target distance. Then click the second green treadmill button on the workout data screen.
Snap a clear photo of the treadmill monitor showing both time and distance, then submit it.

Tip: You can take a full monitor photo or zoom in, just make sure time and distance are visible.

Step 5:
For interval workouts, repeat the pause-photo-submit process for each interval segment.

Step 6:
Once all segments are done, your treadmill data will appear on the workout summary page. Click Save to update your workout history and count this toward your total Run Flo distance.
Note: Pace will be automatically calculated from your submitted time and distance.

📸 Why Do I Need to Take a Photo?

Traditional running apps rely on Bluetooth, which can be inconsistent or unavailable, especially in home setups, gyms, or hotels.

Run Flo uses AI-powered photo recognition trained on thousands of treadmill images to accurately detect and record your treadmill’s time and distance data. This keeps your workout data accurate and lets you use practically any treadmill — no matter the brand or age.

⚠️ Things to Know About Your Treadmill Workout

  • Always pause your treadmill after each run or interval segment to give yourself time to take a clear photo.

  • Most commercial gym treadmills allow up to 5 minutes of pause before resetting automatically.

  • If your workout data seems off after saving, you can go back and take another photo to correct it — but only if your treadmill saves the workout data.

  • For treadmills that don’t save workouts, it’s best to take a high-quality photo the first time while the treadmill is paused.
